Moss Landing

California makes it a bit tougher for RVers.  The state parks along the coast are booked for months in advance and it seems that they always want a minimum of $50 to park: even if they don't provide any electricity, water or even trash cans!  But, we've been lucky and have always had somewhere to stay.  Last night was a stop in a beautiful spot: the parking lot of the wharf at Moss Landing.  It was fairly deserted in the evening but at 5 am, the trucks pulling boats and kayaks began arriving.
Not a bad spot for the Breeze!
This jellyfish was the size of a beachball.  It must have come in at high tide and gotten stranded.  Beautiful, but I suspect it is dangerous.

In my family, this is not what we meant by a pot stop.

The sea lions were aggressive and very territorial.  Like the elephant seals, I don't think I would want them for neighbors!

View from my window this morning.

I believe he has posed before.

The tidal pools have created an interesting ecosystem. The area is rich in small snails and crabs which are favorites of the birds, seals and other animals in the area.  The crab meat was great in the chile relleno and tamales we had for dinner!

Supposedly otters have a million hairs per square inch on their coats.  Who spends time counting this stuff?
