The last of the summer pics

I couldn't bring myself to post the final pictures from our summer trip.  2 and a half months, 11,000 miles and so many wonderful experiences.  I thought I'd catch up and share some final pictures from Yellowstone.
The travertine terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs are formed as the acidic water is forced up through the limestone.

The calcium carbonate at the mammoth springs is pulled into the roots of the trees and other vegetation.  It has such an eerie look: almost like a fire has consumed the landscape.

Grand Prismatic Springs

The colors at grand prismatic springs are caused by the micro-organisms that feed on sulfur and minerals in the water: they thrive at the high temperatures.

Hey Mom, is this font better?
